ISS Services integrates the carbon footprint information of its dishes into its restaurants’ menus. This helps customers understand their daily carbon footprint and contribute to reducing daily emissions if desired.
The information will first be displayed at the Tampere Tori Mediapolis restaurant, where customers can compare the carbon footprints of dishes starting from June 23rd. Later, the information will be available in all of the company’s municipal and urban customer restaurant services.
The calculations are based on data from the OpenCO2.net carbon footprint platform developed by OpenCO2net. OpenCO2.net subscription clients have access to a comprehensive emission factor database through which data can now be retrieved via an interface into companies’ systems.
“Consumers are increasingly interested in the climate impacts of their choices. The information presented by ISS in its restaurants about the climate impacts of different lunch options enhances customers’ understanding of emissions and, in the best case, motivates them to start reducing their own personal carbon footprint. It’s great that, through the OpenCO2.net platform, we can contribute to making the climate impacts of lunch offerings visible”, says the founder and CEO of OpenCO2net, Sari Siitonen.
