Finnish exhibition constructor and expert service provider Messeforum automatically offers a carbon neutral exhibition stand to all its customers. The carbon neutral exhibition stand concept has been developed considering the requirements of the PAS2060 standard for carbon neutrality. In practice, this means that the carbon footprint of each exhibition stand is calculated, and emissions are reduced, for example, by enhancing material efficiency and using renewable energy where possible. Emissions that cannot be reduced through these means are offset using the CO2Esto’s service based on the EU Emissions Trading System. The amount of necessary offsetting can be reduced through continuous improvement of operations.

OpenCO2net developed for Messeforum a carbon footprint calculator based on OpenCO2.net, that representatives of Messeforum can use to calculate the carbon footprint of each exhibition stand. OpenCO2net verifies the calculations and issues a certificate containing the OpenCO2.net Carbon-Neutral Label for each exhibition stand. This way, Messeforum can also spread climate awareness to its customers.
